Travel Diary

Maldives is an island nation with over 200 inhabited islands. For years Maldives remained at the top of my bucket list destinations so you can only imagine how excited I was to finally go. We arrived at Malé International airport in the morning. Arriving during the day will ensure you experience the most spectacular airport landings in the world. Flying over many of the country’s tropical islands is an incredible sight to see. The airport itself is a small island, so it almost feels like you are going to land in the water when making the final landing. Once we arrived, we took a 15 min speedboat ride to our resort in Furanafushi Island. The water is a perfect shade of turquoise and the sand is pristine. The landscaping is well kept and unique; there was not one place on the island that was not picture perfect. As soon as we arrived to the island, the staff greeted us with friendly faces, welcome drinks, and cold face towels. I went with my three best friends and we had the time of our lives. We spent most of our time laughing as usual, participating in water sports, and relaxing on the beach. The staff is really friendly and professional. They always greeted us by name, and were very hospitable. Maldives is a Muslim country so on Friday’s the staff is limited and some of the shops and restaurants are closed, which is completely understandable. The only complaint I have is that the food was mediocre, but everything else made up for that. I cannot wait to go back to the Maldives and explore the other beautiful islands.
