NEW YORK FASHION WEEK 2022

My first NYFW was epic to say the least. Although I’ve been lucky enough to take part of the festivities and shows in the past, it has always been as someone’s intern, assistant or as someone’s plus one. But attending as Nasteha Yusuf was something else. Something I never expected to do with such ease.

Whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned pro, The fashion, the street style and the parties never get old. There is always something new to see and new people to connect with.

New York Fashion Week is a fashion industry event which allows designers the opportunity to showcase their new collections for the first time. The event happens in February for Fall/Winter collections and presentations and in September for Spring/Summer collections and presentations. Although September is historically deemed the larger scale event, both are highly esteemed.

The one thing that stood out to me the most this year was the number of black designers and models that were in the forefront. It was such an incredible feeling to see so much diversity and talent. The Victor Glemaud show in particular was an emotional moment to see so many beautiful African woman walking down the runway to African music. Reminded me of how far the fashion industry has come.

Another one of my favorite memorable moments were just putting looks together every day. Looking back, there were a lot of overwhelming moments in the background, but I couldn’t be more proud of the looks that made the cut. Below are some of my favorite looks and moments from NYFW.
